Ari has had quite the weekend, he had a runny nose and a swollen fontanelle so he started out Friday night at the instacare and later ended up in the ER. One CT scan and two rectal thermometer readings later we were told he "could" have meningitis but getting a positive on that would require a spinal tap. We declined and took him home (he was lacking almost all other symptoms).
Sunday evening the cough, runny nose, trouble breathing, lack of appetite, mild fever, and constant fussiness led us to believe this was no little cold, it was back to instacare. This time he was not only treated to another rectal temperature reading but also a snot suck test and a chest x-ray (this is where they strap your little one into a torture chamber like devise and make you hold his/her arms up while they take their sweet time conducting an x-ray) poor Ari screamed and screamed like I have never heard before. It was very upsetting.
Diagnosis: RSV
Treatment: Inhaler type breathing tube, tylenol, and a "good luck" from the instacare doctor. (further advise pending).
Poor little guy is miserable. Seems like only yesterday he was king of the bumbo.

King of the Bumbo
The weather was warm today so I sat Ari on the front porch in his bumbo while I played frisbee with k-so. Ari kept smiling and laughing at us, it was so cute so I grabbed the camera and started to take photos. After k-so and I finished playing we all sat on the porch and watched cars and students go by. K-so realized she liked to lean on the cushy bumbo and Ari realized he liked the feel of k-so's fur. It was pretty funny. What a great morning. I sang "king of the bumbo" to Ari about 30 times (it was a modified version of "bongo bong" by Manu Chao). click photos to enlarge.

My First Flip
Today I proved that I have an advanced level of acrobatic skills. While lying on the couch this morning I decided to try one of my famous 180 degree turns. My Mom was sitting next to me and she gets really excited when I pull this trick so I decided I would hurry and turn when she wasn't looking and surprise her. As soon as she turned her head I executed my aforementioned maneuver. I began to kick my legs like a crazy toad until they were dangling off the couch, a sensation I had yet to experience. I panicked and started to fling my body wildly. Next thing I knew I had gone from laying flat on my back on the couch with my head pointed north to crumpled up on on the floor on my stomach with my head facing south. I might have been able to pass this off as just another trick, but the fact that my head landed on the base of the space heater gave me away. Instead of jumping up and yelling "ta da" I began to wail like a banshee. My mom looked down at me with horror instead of excitement. Lesson learned, Mom get's more excited with 180 degree turns. I only cried for a few minutes, and the bump only lasted a few hours, but my pride may be damaged for awhile.

Now thats Deformed
Ari had his 4 month check-up last week. The doctor was concerned with his head shape, apparently it's not "normal". I had chalked it up as ramification's of being in the birth canal for 2 months. X-rays showed Ari's head shape was nothing serious, he just needs to stay out of his boppy.
Another interesting side note from the doctors visit...Ari is in the 75th percentile for height. Where those genes came from are any ones guess.

Singing with Mom
Turns out Ari loves to sing...well, most of the time. Sometimes he sings along, and other times it sounds like he's telling me to shut up.
