Not Pictured Here...

We had plans to hit Grand Gulch after Valley of the Gods but instead we decided to camp near Lake Powell (take a bath), then head to Buckskin Gulch the next day. Unfortunately the back country campsite (off Smoky) we were headed for was closed due to fact that the campsite was no longer anywhere near the lake (poor shrinking Lake Powell). So we headed strait for the Paria Wilderness. We found a nice camping spot next to the Paria River. This photo is of Ari enjoying the river...did he ever stop laughing the entire hour+ he was in the water; I don't think so.


What's not pictured here is the large frequent gusts of wind, us trying to eat our dinner, our dinner full of sand before we can get it in our mouthes, us starving, us with dirt in our eyes, us not being able to set up the tent due to wind, Ari seeking refuge from the wind in the car, us packing up our belongings, us heading to Kanab for a hotel, us taking a nice hot shower, Ari going to bed early, and me and Joe "enjoying" fast food on the patio of the hotel. It was the first time in Joe and I's road trip life that we have resorted to forking out the $ for a hotel.
